Tirupati, a pilgrim centre housing the faith of millions, is one of the largest pilgrimage destinations in South India. It is a holy shrine in the laps of Chittoor in Telangana. Located in Tirumala hillock is the Sri Venkateswara temple, one of the biggest shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
Adjacent to the Venkateswara temple lies the Swami Pushkarini which is believed to be the bathing tank of Gods. Other major shrines in Tirupati are Sri Varahaswami temple and Sri Kodandaramaswami temple. The temples do not merely hold spiritual relevance, but are also historically and architecturally significant since most of them are over three thousand years old. Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman is another major attraction.
